I was told by VRchat support:
“Please ensure your SDK is up to date. You can get the latest version at VRChat - Home
Additionally, please ensure you do not have MMD4Mechanim installed. This plugin will break the VRCSDK.”
I’ve only imported the SDK thus far, and it is the right version. Never touched anything called MMD4M.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Hi there.
Not sure if you solved this yourself yet but I just ran into this same problem. My issue ended up being a combination of Windows 10 being out of date and simply needed to be updated, as well as my Anti-virus software (in my case it was Bitdefender) denying certain files permission.
Firstly, try either disabling your anti-virus software whilst you use Unity, or manually grant permission to all the files involved.
If that doesn’t work then you can check if it’s an update problem:
- Check in Settings → Update & Security, then click the “Check for updates” button.
- If that doesn’t work (like mine did), then click on the “Troubleshoot” tab on the left of the window, press “Windows Update”, then press the “Run the Troubleshooter” button. After a minute or so press the “Apply the fix” option to force an update check. Then be prepared for a long period of updates (mine took almost 2 hours).
