Decals only appear when the material they are projected on is highlighted in the inspector

I have been having quite an issue today with my decals only appearing when the material they are displayed upon is selected in the inspector.

I don’t know what is causing this behavior and I have been trying to fix it for a few days now, I’ve been messing around with baking my lighting onto my prefabed levels but that doesn’t appear to be the cause as even the objects that don’t have the baked lighting are similarly effected by the issue.

Any assistance in helping me figure out whats going on would be greatly appreciated.

I have also learned that if I right click the material asset and click reset it will also reset allowing the decals to be displayed on the material even when the material is completely default and no changes have been made.
