I’m having an issue using the deferred renderer whereby my main directional light isn’t rendered at certain angles. I’m using a healthy number of interior lights and while standing inside there are no problems. When my avatar is standing outside the directional light will flicker off at certain angles depending on where I place my interior components. This is for a click-together building construction set. I just want one light outside representing the sun with dozens of lights inside the building pieces. I’ve messed with the “importance” settings of the lights (which I think was actually just for forward rendering) and it had no affect. The only thing that seems to have some affect is the Uniform vs. Uniform Focused setting for the directional light. Changing that setting changes the places and angles I can stand at and see the directional light turning off.
Are you using the latest version of Unity? This problem was reported some time ago and believed to be fixed. If you are still seeing it under 3.1 then please can you file a bug report for it (menu: Help > Report A Bug) and mention that it may be related to case 360999.
Yeah, I’m using 3.1 and it’s still there. Was able to replicate it finally in a simplified environment so I sent off the bug report. Initially I was having a tough time replicating it.
