Deferred rendering issue with terrain

The terrain-grass and terrain-trees are displayed black through the terrain (first image).
The problem only occurs with deferred rendering.

It only happens in the Build version of the game. It works perfectly in the editor window or in play mode.

I don’t know whether it’s an bug or some settings are wrong, so I’ve attached the current settings (second image).

Version: Unity 5.0.0f4

a possibly related problem is odd “backside” brightness on detail meshes. Setting the render path to Legacy Deferred fixed the problem.

the grass detail meshes on the left (in attached screenie) show the problem. the grass on the right is an FBX instance. Both use the same shader (Nature/Tree Soft Occlusion Leaves)
