Demigod style zoom

If anyone has played Demigod you should know what I mean, at first I was thinking its just FOV but im not so sure… maybe someone else would have a better idea of how they do it? (you really gotta see it rather then have it explained)

It looks like the camera is just moving closer and further away. Also, when closer, it moves in position to look more horizontally and when it moves further away it looks more straight down. Not sure the field of view is changed at all.

Its hard to see in most vids, at the beginning you can kinda see it, its mostly for meshes slightly outside of the play area, its like they are “disjoined” but they are part of the actual play area mesh. Its kinda odd

edit: in the actual game it doesnt move horiz for you when you zoom in.

Looking again, it looks like, in addition to moving closer and farther away, the field of view actually increases when zooming in and decreases when zooming out (the opposite of a normal zoom). It makes good sense though.
