I am researching what technology to create a 3d Surveying app(for Android & iPad) in.
Unity3D is looking good but I want to create an app that loads alot of images, renders large detailed areas and attempts to animate many objects at once. I want to do this to push the iPad/Android tablet to its limits to see at which point the tablets lags &/or fails.
I want to deploy a Unity3D test app to iPad/Android before I go ahead and purchase the Unity3D iPad/Android licencing(& may find out then that Unity3D cant meet the app requirements). Is it possible to deploy a test app to iPad/Android without the licences?
I have made many apps for Android Smart phones(2.3 and less) & iPhones and I have come across the many limitations they have: in 2.2 Android an app cannot load too many images into memory(16kb) otherwise the whole app just crashes(no error message either), iPhones dont animate/repaint custom drawn windows fast enough to produce smooth scrolling animations.
These are the issues I dont want to find out about after I purchase a Unity3D licence for iPad/Android. Do you know how I can deploy a test Unity3D app to iPad/Android without a licence? Is it possible?
