Hey, I made a top down sci-fi giant bug shooter called Derelict for a school project not too long ago!

I’ve been watching your stuff in the Small Projects threads, and I’m intrigued. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on this.

First I will introduce the bug

The bug has been through several redesigns

currently there are 3 types of bugs in the game



Then theres the soldiers
theyre supposed to look like this

but on ipad they look like this…

Looks great. It reminds me a lot of Space Hulk and this video. Should be fun, lol.

We are hoping to excel with our gameplay as well as campaign story. Plus our visuals are pushing the limits of what can be seen on the iPad. Hopefully with newer technology being released, such as the ipad 4, we will be able to have even more aliens, soldiers and blood on the screen!

here is what one of the levels will look like (this is the mini map)

we have several guns available for the soldier
Shotgun
Rifle
Pistol
Flamethrower
Turret



Our focus is tonnes of aliens, and super powerful weapons

This looks promising, I really like the artwork and the concept. The “Derelict” looks awesome, character models look great, and those bugs are sick! If only I had an iPad :confused: Any thoughts on releasing for the PC?

We will have a build really soon with doors that get destroyed as well as turrets

currently what you see in the level is like a sandbox, the bugs spawn and auto attack the soldiers who auto attack back since they are facing the direction of the bugs
the game is about exploring the large levels of the ship, the bugs will attack and be killed if the soldiers are prepared, standing still and aiming down the corridors. If they are walking and ambushed or facing the wrong way they will die after one or two encounters

the soldiers place turrets to protect areas where a soldier cannot stay, so they wont get left behind

Its similar to Left4Dead with the safehouses being the objective of the player

We currently do not have unity pro, we will be getting it to use the awesome nav mesh features! but we are making sure we have everything that can be done, done before we get pro.

this is why theres no pathfinding, the bugs and soldiers walk and shoot through walls.

but theres more!

This is the art style I love. I wish I knew how to make my models look this way.
keep it up. Unfortunately I don’t have an Ipad, but would love to keep up to date with this game :slight_smile:

The flamethrower effect and bug concept are crazy awesome! I wanted to check out your youtube videos but they seem to be down. Do you have a website/blog that has more content? You should stick that on your sig. I couldn’t find anything about it in the thread.
