Hi there! We are developing a p2p game with no server hosting (coop up to 4 players). We’ve implemented NGO and trying to figure out how to make it work on consoles. I have access to NDA docs but I couldn’t find much. My questions are:
Do you recommend using NGO for console development at its current state (our project scope is 2 years). Or should we switch to 3rd party plugins (like Photon, etc.)? Maybe you can recommend some?
Does NGO have integration tools/guides/plugins for mentioned consoles? In docs it just says to contact Unity dev team, so here I am I guess
My problem with most plugins (e.g. Microsoft is pushing in docs its own PlayFab Party) is that they are an overkill for our project. We have a craft based game without complex physics. However, we are a relatively small team so developing our own solution might be not a viable option. Thank you for your help!
If you need dedicated servers it might be a good idea to look at Photon instead.
The new NGO docs are actually pretty helpful, but it really depends on your requirements. I don’t remember seeing anything about consoles specifically, and I’m not sure why that would matter.
They mean that depending on your license type you may have access to a ‘success manager’ that can put you in touch with engineers from different departments to help you do what you need. Otherwise you can just pay them an hourly rate for support.
You should try to contact Unity directly anyway. Just in case there may be some settings or requirements specific to consoles that you’d have to make or adhere to, but they can’t be mentioned in public due to NDAs.
