Did you ever work drunken?

Sorry guys I had to ask ^_^.

Some use to say my Japanese is more understandable when I am drunken or drunk a few beers.
Then wondering if my 3D or programming skill level up temporally when I drunk a little bit.

What do you think guys?
Does alcohol make Game Maker skill up for a few hours?

Seriously!

I doubt it very seriously that programming skills gets a boost from alcohol because programming is more related to rational part of the brain.

But i can tell you from experience that the artistic side, can have a huge boost, in the early stages of intoxication, because of the removal of inhibitions. Also the same result you can get when you are very tired and self control is at its low.

Alcohol is a depressant and thus reduces brain activity. If you’re really nervous when working to where it slows you down then maybe a little alcohol would improve productivity, otherwise it would just slow you down.

I do significantly better while drinking. I do strictly visual scripting and modelling though, rarely find myself in code at all.

I generally check out my work the next day and go ā€œwow, this is pretty niftyā€. Whereas if I wasn’t drinking the night I did it then I generally see it the next day and just get frustrated at the problem in front of me, eventually leading to drinking and solving the issue nicely.

Interesting idea! I have to try that someday.
Programming sober. Then I can compare! :stuck_out_tongue:

You may think you are doing better, but then the next day you have to go back and fix a bunch of really broken code.

Nope, I’m underage, so no alcohol for me.

I do almost everything drunken, ironically, I’m a happier guy when intoxicated!!!

Yeah especially if its something abit tedious.

It’s called The Balmer Peak.

No… the screen is just too… blurry…

Sure! And I also drive better! Mhmm or wait, maybe that’s just an impression

One our modelers claims he works much better while drunk.

Generally, No.
But work over time sober - this is no fun at all =)

I’ve programmed drunk a few times when I was younger. It never led to catastrophic bugs which needed fixing, but almost always left me wondering who on earth had been messing with my code the next morning as there would be entire sections I couldn’t remember writing.

You shouldn’t be thinking about code while drunk. I think there’s something wrong with the way you drink.

bahaha

I decided to do a 3d helicopter controller a while back, fired it up… experimented with ideas and was struggling… got into the evening and into the scotch… woke up the next morning to tinker with it some more and hell it was practically finished, the chopper was flying around and feeling pretty good and just needed a some adjustments to account for combining directions… So I go back to check it out, see what i did and read the comments… and nothing is commented, its borderline jibberish, I don’t even know how I thought of doing things the way they were done. Totally lost, took longer to figure out what I did than it did to actually do it while I was slamming back the scotch.

But it works great!

To clarify, it only works when I’m lightly drunk and can still function. If I’m heavily drunk, I just want to sleep, but I fight it, BECAUSE

HAHAHA, I just had to throw that in!!

I can tell you your french is not more understandable when you get drunk hahaha ^^
