Different Hands for FPS

Hey guys!
Have been searching all around for this… Still no Solution… :-?

Most tutorials out there on how to model fps rigs show that you have to make the gun and arms in one object and rig it. But what if i want to have different hands for the same Gun (Like if there are multiple characters to control with different clothes and arms).

Is it better to have the arms and gun be separate objects? but then syncing their animation and poses would be difficult… Can someone suggest a good way to do it?

Well, I mean yeah the animation would be quite difficult. I would just standardize where your gun model translation coordinates are and wrap different models around an armature inside a 3d modeling program template. So like you have an armature with 1 type of hand and a gun right? Well, keep the same armature, but wrap different arms and fingers to mold around the bones. This isn’t quite what you’re asking for, but it will surely speed up the process by a lot if you have to do it that way.
