What is the deal with this?
The small image doesn’t show the problem well (open in new tab for bigger image) but the shadows are flickering, flashing and basically are composed of jittery lines instead of filling with darker color. And its everywhere.
Shadow quality is maximum, Shadow Distance is 2000, distance between the highlighted object and the camera is about 400 units and unless I get extremely close the shadows look like crap.
I’ve tried scaling every setting in the quality controls and the directional light setup but it doesn’t seem to help at all, softening, bias, cascasdes, stable/close fit, resolution, hard/soft, important/not important, Auto/Realtime, strength… Nothing helps.
The scene is basically setup 1:1 with Unity’s units, so nothing is abnormally huge or tiny. I’m using Deferred Lighting. I do have things very far in the distance and the background is rendered by a second camera but I’ve tried disabling it and moving the directional light closer to the player. Does entire scene-scale have a bearing on the nearby shadow quality?
