Has Unity Asset Store changed its pricing policy?
The asset was purchased from me, and at some point it was upgraded to version 2.0 (its cost is $60), and, accordingly, I was offered to purchase a new version with a 50% discount (for $30), regardless whether there is a sale in the store or not. But on the New Year’s sale, the price of the new version for me was shown as 15.
Now the asset I need (the new version) got into the sale with a 50% discount (like for the new year), but now the price shows me 29.99, why so?
I don’t know what’s happening in your case but I can say that, during sales last year, if an item was 50% off it would show the price as 50% off the original price for me (Not 50% off of the upgrade price). So, for me it would be the exact same price on sale as it was not on sale. Maybe this is something that is up to the individual product’s author?

Maybe the new years sale was 75% off, or alternatively the author manually updated the upgrade price to also be 50% off the normal upgrade price during the time of the sale.
Sales/upgrades discounts don’t stack automatically.
