Do I need a Vat number for Asset Store

I have the free version of unity3d and want to download some plugins from the asset store. However, it asks me for my VAT number? where do i get a vat number?

I think you're in the wrong section... You don't need a VAT number to purchase from the asset store (nor to sell through the store). Can you post a screenshot/link where it says this?

The asset store should be inviting you to enter your VAT number if you have one. It’s not a requirement. If you want a VAT number, register with your local government.

I submitted all information and still asking for miss information.
Only left VAT blank as a USA citizen.
