Do i need to re-install Unity to get Unity 3?

I have 2.X, will i need to uninstall it to get 3.x? Or is there another way of doing it?

It is still there. Check in Menu - GameObject, it shows as last of the drop down. You need an object to be selected for the item to be used.

I'm running 5.2.1 and Alt-shift-A works there. Just to be clear, this is Edit Mode, object selected in Hierarchy, then use the key shortcut; toggles the "active" box on/off. It sounds maybe like you're talking about some other use ... ?

Just go to the main Unity site and download it. It took care of my previous Unity installation for me. (I was on Windows though, so not sure about Mac).

I was talking about the keyboard shortcut for setting an object active/inactive. It's still missing from the latest builds.

Unity will overwrite your older version automatically UNLESS you change the name of your Unity application folder and the exe/dmg. Which is actually very useful, and I would recommend keeping a backup for at least 1 - 2 previous versions incase you find a bug or the changes to physics and scripting keep you from porting your project.

So, no you don't have to uninstall it or anything.
