I bought this asset from the asset store a few days back. The asset store page clearly shows 6 nice low poly swords. On import however unity says there is nothing to import. I searched the forum to see if there was a thread on this topic already (there isn’t so far as I could see) and the author has no contact info, except a link to his own website which is not in a language I’m familiar with (Korean maybe?).
I flagged the asset as a potential violation, but have heard nothing back from Unity, and it is still for sale. Hopefully no one else will make the same mistake.
If someone at Unity does read this, I’d be satisfied if I got the assets I paid for of course, but otherwise this guys should be made to refund I and any other customers who have paid for nothing - and it should be taken off the asset store. I would like to hear that something is being done on this - it makes the asset store and unity look bad for this to still be up for sale.
(also I should point out that I’m not sure my forum account and asset store account are linked to the same email - I don’t use the forum much - I am currently the first and only commenter on the asset store page).
The set came out in October and is version1.1 so it’s probably just a glitch. It’s the holiday season and the period between Christmas and New Year is when most people take a holiday to be with family, so I would imagine Unity is just a bit short staffed and it will all be back to normal late next week and stuff like this will be corrected then.
From what I know, the Unity staff checks the assets before they put them up on the store. I’m sure it’s just a mistake somewhere, and that it’ll be fixed.
As I said in the first post, I flagged it the week before that post, and there is no way to contact the asset author.
Also, now there is another comment on the asset’s page from someone who apparently didn’t see my forum post warning people not to buy it -.-’
Hopefully someone at Unity will see this, or maybe a forum mod can pass it on?
LOL! I don’t understand why people don’t check out the “Package Contents” list BEFORE purchasing??!! Do you guys just blindly buy stuff without checking?
The “Package Contents” allows you to check out pretty much everything - Unity Asset Store server would generate thumbnail view straight from reading the package content inside - and you can check out textures and materials (.jpg, .mat), and the 3D mesh (.fbx, .prefab) even the audio content (display as wave form).
I have even made a habit of checking all files and directory structure before even importing the assets into Unity before each asset update! I think you guys should do too.
Good tip Baws, I sometimes just have a cursory look only through the preview, but it’s better to look through the key assets before buying. I’ve bought some real dungers before as well
Yes I check out package contents too, but in this case I assumed my browser was glitching or something.
Why would UT review and accept an asset that is basically a scam? I’ve purchased like $2k worth of assets in the last month or so and I haven’t been let down, save this one exception. I guess I felt that UT and the asset store community had earned some trust.
No one is going to raise a real fuss over a $5 asset of course, but laws are being broken here. Unity needs to fix this, or at least tell me they’re working on it. This does not look good.
It is indeed very bizzare UT actually allows a COMPLETELY EMPTY asset on to Asset Store. LOL. A BIG SCREW-UP from UT’s end for sure.
I am actually quite alarmed by this. If something like this can pass through UT’s Asset Store QA team, that means ANYTHING can pass through UT’s QA team. Virus, Trojan, you name it. UT needs to revamp its Asset Store QA procedure.
They seemed to be very detail oriented when I sent my stuff. They even rejected something I sent as a free asset because it didn’t have enough documentation D:
Thanks for the heads up everyone I’ll pass this on to the AS team, did anyone e-mail support about this at all? If you did, the case numbers will be handy.
Also, the Asset Store seller’s name “Pure Kinky” sounds like a bit of tip-off
It sounds like a scammer just trolling the user with its name. I am surprised UT let this one slide too.
What next? “Sex on the Beach”?
Package must contain swords. If you purchased package and its empty, then its most problem in unity store. Think again, how the hell someone could put in store empty package without Unity management check? It can take a week before submit.
I didn’t email anyone as I didn’t know who/where I should direct one to. I did report it via the “flag” icon on the asset page. If there was a case number I didn’t see it, sorry. Also, I commented on the asset page under the name “mike” - my forum account and asset store account don’t point to the same email (hopefully that won’t cause confusion).
