Do people use Instagram for reading about game design?

I know that a lot of people play games just to kill time, but I have a strong passion for immersive games. I want to share my passion with other game designers and developers. Moreover, I want to discuss my thoughts with others and polish my ideas.

Now I started working on content for my account https://instagram.com/gamequisitor/ and I am wondering what are you thinking about this combination, Instagram + Game Design. What topics are more suitable for Instagrammers?

P.S. Regarding my experience with game design, I’ve worked in a small indie game studio for five years, read books, this forum) and other sources about game design.

Why not just do it here? I have enough social media accounts.

Good question)
Maybe because Instagram is only one social network that I use each day. It is suitable for me. Moreover, I didn’t see a lot of game designer content there, but see a lot of indie game dev accounts.

P.S. Actually, it is a good idea to share some thoughts here. Thank you)

The average instagram user is women in their 45-ish years with disposable income, sometimes mother of young kids and teenagers. So aim for that…

Sounds like a plan

Instagram doesn’t lend itself well to deep dive discussions. Some light commentary and knee jerk reactions to content are pretty typical. Not sure that game design will do well there.

for serious discussion i think you have to find small group of friends or invite only groups.

I totally agree that instagram isn’t made for a long discussion.
But something like a question to a wide audience.
For example, I think that collectables in many cases is an artificial prolonging a game. It’s a very weak idea of how to enlarge game. So, I can ask a question. And a discussion with one-two comments deep it’s pretty ok for me. I still can collect some opinions. It’s not deep, but at least something. Doesn’t it make sense?

I agree. But frankly speaking, I also have an idea of how to monetize it. Therefore, I need a lot of active people there.

There is no reason to aim for the middle of a channel’s mainstream audience, and plenty of reason not to. It doesn’t matter who the average audience member is so long as your intended audience is also present and reachable.

How it works?

I have created my business account on Instagram and posting 3-4 posts daily but didn’t get good result. How can I increase my followers without posting ads and all as I have some issues I read a post https://techifacts.com/howto-get-real-instagram-followers/ in which stated that using hashtags can increase your followers yes it works for sometime but again the response is not up to the mark. Suggest me some good points to increase my instagram’s followers organically.

I can’t, because I know nothing about your audience or your game. Just like game development itself, this is a skill and a knowledge set that needs to be developed over time. All I can do is suggest questions to direct your learning.

What are the issues you’re having?

What have you tried?

Who is your target audience?

What do you know about them?

Is “3-4 posts daily” an appropriate number of posts for them?

What is the content of your posts?

How does it compare to the content of posts that your audience follows?

Post quality content people want to see.
