does anyone know why vscode unity extension is depreciated
so form what i know in the past i always have used vscode as my main code editor and i just don’t like the vs (the visual studios) side of things like it just doesn’t fit right to have one just called vs and not a code in the name and i don’t think you could even rename the application to reference vs code but now when i just try to use it by going into Edit > Preferences > External Tools i can select vscode but when i try just coding and just overall trying to debug or just edit code with intellisense it just doesn’t show any of the errors shown on the unity console like oh you want to import a namespace into a namespace then good luck trying to get it working like you just can’t manually do it nor use intellisense to do it and i know the is a non officially supported version but hell it doesn’t work half the time even with the help of intellisense

yes but it does not want to do so (as in like i said it has be configured but vscode just doesn’t want to sync like idk if its unity making the extension deprecated or vscode just doesn’t want to listen

In Preferences » External Tools it should say “Visual Studio Code [VERSION]”. If you see “Visual Studio Code (internal)”, then the editor package isn’t installed properly and it won’t work. Do you maybe have compile errors in your project that prevent the editor package from loading?
The “Debugger for Unity” extension is deprecated and hasn’t been updated. As explained in the link @vertxxyz posted, you want the “Unity” extension instead.
Everything transferred from Unity over to Microsoft, so now both the “Visual Studio Editor” package and the “Unity” extensions are developed by Microsoft. Unfortunately, the transition was handled and communicated very poorly and it’s still too easy to find outdated information and install the wrong packages/extensions.
i have the ext and everything still not getting the errors on vscode but errors on unity engine

and update for troubleshooting i also tried to uninstall all of the editor and check if there was a cache problem since videos say it could be a cache problem and nope didn’t work so im lost
just now realized that you said if its internal but how did it got to internal and how do i manage to get it out of internal if that’s causing it

What do you mean, can you explain more?
Showing “Visual Studio Code (internal)” means the “Visual Studio Editor” package has failed to load. Most likely due to compile errors preventing the domain reload from happening. You cannot have any compile errors in the console (the ones that don’t go away when you clear), any such errors will prevent new packages from loading.

Those errors in the Unity console need to be fixed first. They seem to be coming from your own scripts? (e.g. “Br_AniData.cs”.)
Only once those errors are fixed and the Unity console is empty, can the Visual Studio Editor package load. As long as those errors are there, the VSCode integration won’t work.
You can fix the errors using the broken VSCode or another editor (without IntelliSense, since that doesn’t work yet). Or you can try to temporarily remove the files from the project or comment out the code so that it doesn’t have any errors anymore.
seems by opening vs installer and uninstall a vs community install (2019 and 2022 respectively) the problem i think was it tricked or confused the system into a confusion on what version or what application will be used meaning communication to both unity and vs or vscode form communicating to each other but its fix thank you tho
