Hello,
We are on Unity 2019.4.30f1 LTS.
Does Input System 1.1 a safe solution for a studio that is releasing a commercial game on PS5 and PS4?
Thank you,
Well, in my recent experience there are many issues (I submitted five bug reports for 1.1.1 just last week) and the Unity team seems to be struggling to address them in a timely manner. I’m already committed to Input System but I kind-of wish I wasn’t at this point.
If you are proactive about hunting down their bugs and finding your own workarounds then you might get away with it.
FWIW, the issues I’ve encountered have been observed with both 2019.4 and 2021.1 - that hasn’t seemed to have made much difference.
Thanks for the feedback. I loved Input System so far (using 1.1.1) but 3rd party studio that is doing PS4/PS5 porting for us seems to have difficulty getting the InputSystem working smoothly on PS4. They recommended me to use Rewired? (I’ve never heard of it.) I guess it might be better to look into that…
You can find Rewired in the asset store. It has been around since 2014.
