Does SpeedTree write to Vertex Alpha?

I’m trying to write AO to Vertex Alpha, cause I use RGB for custom wind packing, but in Unity Vertex Color Alpha always 1. Does SpeedTree even support vertex alpha?

I’ve tried to export AO with newly crated tree in SpeedTree 10, and that’s what I get in Unity.
AO in RGB looks ok, but in Alpha it is weird

If you’re using ST or ST9, you’re only going to get RGB to play with. The vertex color alpha is used for branch blending, which you’re looking at in the Alpha screenshot. The branch blend value is used to blend the little bits at the base of a branch to match the trunk.
