I ran across a REALLY good demo written by Eric5h5 demonstrating the use of Open GL calls in order to render graphs (in this case, a sinusoidal wave). It displayed fine in the Unity iPhone 1.6 player, but when I installed it as an application on my development device I only saw a blank screen.
Digging a bit further, I found this in the Unity iPhone Script reference on my local machine (file:///Applications/Unity%20iPhone/Documentation/ScriptReference/Graphics.DrawMesh.html?from=GL):
"IMPORTANT: Only GL.Viewport, GL.SetRevertBackfacing and GL.Clear has an effect on iPhone. Other GL functions are not supported on iPhone."
Am I to read this as, access to the GL class is unavailable in Unity iPhone 1.6? If so, will this change for the newest release of Unity Pro 3.0 + iPhone?
Unfortunately the GL class doesn't work on the iPhone. (Also I can't take too much credit for that demo, since the basics of how it works were already posted in the forums. ;) ) It would be nice if it was implemented in the future; maybe it would have to be a 3GS-only thing?
