dog is distorted

hello i am new here, and new to unity. i have exported this gameobject form 3ds max 2013. in unity with animation. but in the preview window is looks like this(see Attachment). i’m not looking for someone to fix it. just give me a direction on what is going on so i can learn to fix it. thanks in advance.

That’s a pretty sweet looking dog. Does it only distort when it animates or is the model distorted? What format did you export in?

yes it only distorts in animation in unity, i exported from 3ds max 2013 with fbx.

anyone have an ideal what is going on with this in animation???

Do your other animated models from 3da Max have the same problem? It’s hard to tell from image but is certain verts staying in position while others are correctly moving with animation? Or is it just seemingly randomly getting crazy?

Maybe it could be some mistranslation of skeleton binding from 3ds Max to Unity. I’m not an animator or Unity user yet so I don’t know, but maybe you could try binding the skeleton to the mesh differently and see if that works.

If you can’t figure it out soon maybe you could submit a bug to Unity.

Do you use a special fur shader in 3ds max? Probably wont come out the same in unity. Kinda looks like the uvs of some of those polygons were setup for a special shader that is not supported in unity… Yet anyway
