Hello. I am making this small game, free to play on a browse, and want to know whether it would be in accordance with whatever policy there is to include a donation button in the main menu. Would that be possible? Thanks.
So, um, anyone?
Sure - why not? But be aware, hardly anyone ever “donates”. You’re better off trying to find a way to lock some content.
I must’ve missed this thread. It all depends on the game. Is it based off of an already established product? If it’s original, and not based off of something else, what about the content of the game? Did you purchase, download, or make them yourself? If you did purchase or download the content, be sure you look at the license of the place you got them from to make sure you can use commercially. All of these things matter in determining if you can do this. If you’re free to go and you can use the content commercially, I don’t see why not. I may have forgot something, btw.
Note: there are some universes, such as most of H.P. Lovecraft’s works, that allow you to do this without the need for permission or anything.
Freemiums?
Ah, no. It is 100% original, except the textures, but I read the agreements on that. So, um thanks. But I would not really like to create a freemium game. Anyway, I’'ll rely both on the donation and advertisement the hosting site provides Thanks
If it’s your site and your game no reason why you can’t put a donate button on it.
I think he’s asking if it’s within unity’s rules that he can do it.
Unity’s only big rule is that if you make over something like $100,000 profit/yr on your products made with unity, you have to use unity plus. Seeing as I doubt you’ll get more than a hundred, you’re okay
Edit: $100,000
correction, It’s $100,000 at the last fiscal year.
