double-sided textures/polygons?

I am trying to use a flat polygon with alpha-channeled texture. I need for both sides of the polygon to render, but only one side renders.

Is there a setting in the texture or mesh controls that allows this? Or some other setting? This seems like it would be a fairly common issue–is it covered elsewhere? Apologies if I have repeated a query!
