Hi everyone, recently I downloaded the Unity 4 Beta and then installed it, being the idiot I am, I didn’t realize that it wasn’t free… so I opened my project (Didn’t back it up, cos I’m dumb…) and then upgraded it.
I have now created a back up, as I’m now using 3.5.4, so when I try to open the project I get this
“Project incompatible, New version of Unity required”
There are 2 buttons one saying “quit” and another saying “continue and risk data loss”.
I click the second and this comes up
“Fatal error!”
“type == kMetaAssetType & pathName.find
(“library/metadata”) != 0”
I was thinking of deleting everything out of metadata but wasn’t sure if I should.
Please help
Thanks
Tz
I hate to be the one to say it, but…I think you’re screwed. Out of all the software I use that aren’t marketed as cross-version, there’s only one that has software to re-version. And it’s not Unity
Best suggestion I have would be to create a new 3.5 project, manually copy all of the assets over to it, then go in and fix problems. I imagine all of your meshes/scripts/shaders/etc will be fine, not sure what will happen to scene files.
If you open a project file made by 3.5 version of Unuty (ex, Angrybots.unity - 3-5_AngryBots), you can use Unity program ordinarily!!
Try open a 3.5 version project file in projetct forder(finder)
