Hi, I’m experiencing drag-and-drop issues in the asset panel. I can import new assets, but can’t drag-and-drop to different folders.
Any help would be appreciated.
of then happens to me if the folder already has file with same name…
It’s happening with every file in every folder.
does that happen even in a new project?
can you record gif/video how it looks like in editor? (just to see what the mouse cursor looks like)
This only happened a couple of days into the project.
Still having the same issue, any fixes recommended?
I can’t drag files from the windows 10 file explorer to the asset panel, it just has the circle with a slash through it for the cursor. Same case with dragging assets to created folders in the asset panel.
Some things I’ve tried:
- Running the editor and explorer.exe as an administrator
- Doing the opposite
- Starting a new project and copying the project to a different hard drive
Any other ideas?
You mean “Project” window, right?
What kind of “assets” do you try to drag and drop? Can you show us what are you trying to do?

Very low quality video, can’t really see too much on it. Have you tried to drop these assets on the folders on the left hand side? Do you have any errors in the console? Maybe something there blocks you?
What are the folders’ permissions? Do you have the right to write into these folders?

They will not drop into the left-hand folders. No errors in the console. The folder permissions are the same as those in other projects that don’t have this issue.

Interesting, never seen anything like this. I will leave this one to Unity, maybe they have any other clues. Sorry.
