Draw Calls and vertex colors

Hey all.
We are using 3d planes with vertex colors.
It we have some vertex thta have transparency too
It seems like there is a lot new draw calls. Almost 1 for each plane even though there is only 1 shader and 1 material.
Does anyone know why this might be?

Because you need another draw call when you swap textures or shaders or have a per-pixel light effecting something. All hardware does this.

For me, draw calls weren’t much of a problem.
