Drawing lines on a 3D Game Object

hey guys,

I’ve asked this question once and it got rejected. Not sure why. I really just need someone to point me to some existing things that might be built in to Unity already. if there isn;t any, then please say so. I’m not looking for anyone to do it for me. I really just need a point in the right direction.

I’ve already searched a lot on how to do this, and I’m coming up short, so please don;t suggest to go search online for it.I already have, so this is why I am asking here.

So here is the original question:

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I’d like to have a way for the user to draw on top of a 3D model. This is for a research and educational application which would allow the instructor to circle parts of a model for further illustration, or underline pieces of a model (example: teacher showing pieces of a skeleton to a class, or parts of a brain). The user has the ability to rotate the 3D object after drawing, so the lines should be on top of the model when rotated.

Any suggestion on where to start?

Thanks!

You can use RaycastHit.textureCoord to get the UVs coordinates or a RaycastHit, and then use Texture2D.SetPixels to paint on the texture. The textureCoord API page has an example you can adapt.
