Dynamic Dialog System + Dialog Editing Tool
Price: $20
Description
The dynamic dialog system is a new, affordable way to display conversations in your game. The system handles the many hurdles of complex dialog creation for you so that you have more time to work on the things you want to work on. The dialog system also comes with its own stand-alone editor so you don’t need to worry about nasty XML editing.
Features
-
Completely dynamic dialog creation. Use the dialog system to create tree-dialog, radial dialog, floating chat bubbles all with one incredibly easy-to-use tool.
-
Comprehensive tutorial/documentation to help you incorporate dialog anywhere in your project
-
Custom Dialog Tokens. Use dialog tokens in your text to further streamline the creation of your conversations. Example: [him/her], [Full Name], [First Name], [Class], etc.
-
Stand-Alone dialog editor with GUI and documentation (much like the dialog editors for Bioware games such as Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate) outside Unity without the hassle of switching windows in the Unity Editor.
-
Allows for custom attribute handling. Add custom nodes to any part of your dialog to further ease the flow of incorporation into your game.
-
Complex Condition/Action System. Make your dialogs have more depth by adding conditions such as gender specification and stat checks. Adding actions to your dialog nodes will allow you to have your dialog dynamically affect your world in an organized, efficient manner.
-
Animation Management. Want your NPC to play a specific animation when saying a line? No problem! The dialog editor allows you to specify any number of animations in any order you wish!
-
Works with Unity Free Version! No need to have a pro account to use the tool.
-
Actor Script Generation. For those who are working on bigger projects with voice actors, the tool also allows you to generate an actor script at any time that will organize your dialog in script form at the touch of a button!
I know there are already dialog editors on the app market at the moment, and many of them are quite useful. However, I did notice there wasn’t really a dialog editor like this at a manageable price. I’m making this tool for people who want to make quality games with complex dialog without the need to pay a large amount of money or handle too much of the coding. I actually created this tool for use in my own project after doing a long search for a dialog handling tool in the app store and coming up dry. For that reason, I’d like to make this tool/integration available to the community.
At this point, just about all of the editor and Unity integration is complete, but I’m very open to criticisms/suggestions/comments on the project. If you think this kind of tool is superfluous due to the current state of the app market, please let me know. If you have suggestions of features you think would be useful, leave a comment!
Is a stand-alone editor less useful than an Editor built into Unity?
Is the price too high for what’s being delivered?
