We have decided to have a contest to give away some copies of Easy Interface. The contest is pretty simple. We want to know what you would use Easy Interface for.
Rules
Respond to this thread with the title: Contest Entry
Tell us what you would use Easy Interface for, and why.
We will pick a couple of our favorites to be the winners!
Deadline
The contest will run from now until November 21, 2010.
Prizes
The winners chosen will receive free copies of Easy Interface!
I’d use Easy Interface to build menus and other gui elements for an iOS/android RPG I’m making. It’s a 3 man team: programmer (me), graphic artist, and writer.
Easy Interface would allow us to build GUI elements quickly and focus more on gameplay and story.
I’m looking to put together an in-game editor for 2D game content creation. It’s kind of a level designer mixed with a graphics application. It’ll enable the user to create levels, characters, puzzles, graphics, physics etc for a game I’m working on which heavily features user-generated content. I can’t do it as an extension to the Unity editor because people who don’t own or know how to use Unity need to be able to use it quickly.
The one main area that’s slowing me down right now is creating the user interface which needs to comprise things like windows, buttons, sliders, menus, icons, text, tabs, etc and I’m not much looking forward to having to code all this stuff just to get it working, or having to go back to code in order to tweak it. It’s a slow and laborious process whereas Easy Interface would save a tonne of time and help me to refine and polish the user interface. At some point I hope to release the editor for other people to use also.
I’m also working on a Unity webplayer-based online document viewer for a non-profit organization who wants to convert all of their educational courses from a paper/binder format to a digital format. The main issue again is that I need to build a nice user interface and I feel held back by having to do that purely in code. The visual editing aspects of Easy Interface will greatly speed this up and make it much easier for me to visualize how to deliver these courses in a digital format that’s easy to use, clear and well laid out.
Right now, me and a programmer are working on a web game. Interface manipulation is not set up to do either coding or art, it’s a pain, it’s way too difficult. Your solution seems like it would give us the best of both worlds and allow me (the artist) to effortlessly tweak and manipulate the buttons and interface to my liking. This saves us the headache of trying to communicate what is wanted over IM and ultimately saves us that much time, too.
We’re looking to finish up a demo by Thanksgiving. That deadline would easily be achieved with this solution and give us extra time to focus on the more challenging things such as coding and art production (and bug squashing!).
I would use easy interface for an ingame graphics editor for a planned project (heh just noticed my idea is sort of similar to the one above).
The idea is to create a paint program with a layers system, (like photoshop) that allows users to create custom shapes and drawings to customize their player character.
The player would be able to add decals from images they import, or create ones from scratch.
The reason why I would use Easy interface is to speed up the overall design of the UI. Instead of worrying about designing a UI from scratch I would be able to worry about creating the core components of the editor… Things like a layers system, importing images etc.
Ok, I’ll use it to make all the GUI component in my 2.5d side scroller game I’m making for the web.
This whould help A LOT in my project because I’m not that into coding and GUI scripting.
So yeah, I don’t think I could handle all the GUI stuff myself so then I whould need some help.
But with Easy Interface I could get a better result.
I would use Easy Interface on my upcoming GTA Clone. Now that Edy has made my life a lot more simpler with his awesome GTA4 Replica project, I’m only sure Easy Interface would only further extend the ease and speed of which I would get my project completed. I would use Easy Interface to drive all of my GUI needs for my interface, puzzles, and etc.
I would without a doubt use easy interface to develop a great looking GUI for my upcoming game. My game is a small project I am working on. It is a learning project. Easy Interface would allow me to practice my skills in Photoshop. I’m not great at making GUI’s so using your software would greatly speed up the project. Whenever I make a game, making an interface is usually the hardest part for me. If I won this contest I would greatly appreciate it and it would save me a lot of time. If I finished my game, I would definitely put Easy Interface in the credits. Thanks!
We discussed the entries for quite a while, and we came to a decision of the two we liked the best! Here are the winners!
We like this one the best, for obviouse reasons. ImaginaryHuman went into great detail about what he would use Easy Interface for and how it would affect his work. Great job!
We chose this one because we are intrigued by the idea of the in-game graphics editor. It sounds like a great idea and we would love to see our product used!
Thanks to everyone who entered the contest, and look forward to other chances to win stuff coming up soon! Both winners will be sent a PM.
Awesome, thanks! This will really help put a great start to the project!
Hopefully I can show some results as soon as this current project is done!
Thanks again!
