Editing terrain also changes its dupe in another scene?

Hi, I recently made a new terrain, which I modeled, and saved.
I then duped the whole scene and saved it in a different name, as all I needed to change for the next scene was the terrain.
I edited to my liking and then saved it.
When I went back the the original scene, the whole thing looked exactly the same as the dupe that I’de edited. How did this happen, and is there any way I can get the original scene back? Alot of work went to waste
Note that the daylight water that I deleted in the dupe was still there in the original scene… The only change was the terrain.
Thanks in advance.

A terrain is an asset file, so even though you had two different scenes, they both referenced the same terrain file. That’s why the terrain is the same in both scenes. You need to copy the terrain asset, not just the scene file, to do this without problems.

And I do not know of any way to get back your lost data, unless you happened to make a backup.

Aww… :frowning:
Thanks for your reply. I guess I’ll have to redo it all…
