Is it not OK to edit an xml file in Notepad (in Windows)?
Whenever I do so (e.g. just copying a line and adding an additional clause) I get compiler error messages, and I can’t even go back by un-doing what I have just done! I have to copy over the old xml file to resolve the compiler issue.
Is there a specific way of editing xml files as Unity’s “resources” or “assets”?
Thanks for your quick reply. My whole UnityPro has now crashed (err msg :: Moving File Failed) and is not launching (which might have something to do with this perhaps) so I will get back to you as soon as I have sorted this out…
Graham, Just a quick update that I did a fresh install and I am no longer getting an error message after editing an xml file through Notepad. When I ran into that problem, my Unity crashed before I had a chance to capture a screenshot or even commit to memory the error message. If it happens again, I will react quickly to, at least, memorize the err msg before I lose the app. But once again, thanks for your quick reply…
