Looks like they are using some SDF library that lacks the most basic quality font rendering features, whatever the reasoning was for it, it is not because of user first, it was the xyproblem they tried to ducktape over with sdf due to technical limiations of their internals.
Even in same settings, the bold texts are noticeably smaller, look to the “Universal Additional Light Data (Script)” line.
Also check the “General/Emission/Rendering/Shadows” title in Light component, 2023.2 are a lot easier to read.
So I got the beta and saw this, since most people are not using 4k screens I can not understand the decisions that led to this, but I have to hope that bitmap text will become the default before release and will not have any of the bugs some have reported.
I still use the non-default system font because of the blurrier default one that was added ages ago!
Even in UGUI there remain major issues with small font rendering using SDFs.
