Editor freezes after switching between windows

Hi

I’m using Linux editor on Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon. The main problem that I have is that the editor freezes for about 30 seconds everytime I switch to another window and switch back (for example, after editing the code). Also in-editor windows such as project settings cannot be closed using the close button.

Any idea how to fix this?
I tried installing different 2018 and 2019 versions, and they all have the same problem.

Having same issue on EndevourOS, With any unity version. Yes I unchecked Sync To VBlank on Nvidia OpenGL settings. It hangs for couple of seconds when switching between windows, Even when I open the color chooser of unity!

My pc has R9 3900X 12 Core CPU, GTX 1060, and 16GB Ram. Any workarounds?
