I recently upgraded to 2022 and imported a project from 2021. With the open project sitting idle in the editor, my system fans would ramp up and down constantly. I searched the internet for a couple days about editor performance issues but found nothing until I came across this obscure reference to the Aseprite Importer. Once I went into Preferences>2D>Aseprite Importer and unchecked the background import everything is instantly better. IMO this should be checked to false by default, as I am sure most people wouldn’t even be aware of its existence and it negatively affects editor performance. Hope this saves anyone else with this issue days of searching for the wrong info.
