Editor Performance Regressions and

So I did a test with 3 versions of Unity to see how long it took to load up the Select Project pane.
This is just the point in which you double click Unity and it opens up for you to select a project to load. I have included the number of projects in the open list area in case that does anything.

Unity 4.6.6 (32 Bit)
Load time: 0.1 Seconds
Number of projects in list: 12

Unity 5.2.1 p4 (64 Bit)
Load time: 0.2 Seconds
Number of projects in list: 9

Unity 5.4.0b17 Beta (64 Bit)
Load time: 0.9 Seconds
Number of projects in list: 9

I don’t know what would be causing that. But that is at least a start to some of the claims that the engine has been getting worse as later versions have been coming out.

If anyone needs a video or something I would be glad to upload it showing all 3 versions side by side. Visually 5.2 and 5.4 look the same, but somehow the beta clearly hangs longer to load.

yeah its annoying when want to test something quickly…

one of these days will try ProcessMonitor to see what it is doing and compare with older version,

yeh I’ve also noticed this delay, num of projects in the list hardly matters, seems more like a hardcoded delay
