Editor play mode suddenly connected to my iPhone Camera

I have never seen this before. I was making changes to an old Unity & Vuforia project. I updated it to Unity 6. When I hit the play button in the Unity Editor suddenly my iPhone lit up and displayed my camera view – wirelessly. What the hell happened!!

I was not sure what to make of it. I then opened a few other versions of the project and it did not happen again. Once I realized I already missed the feature I went back to the project that did it but now I can’t reproduce it.

Does anyone have any ideas? I do have Unity Remote 5 installed but I never launched it on my own. When I tried to replicate the behavior by launching the app it tells me I need to be connected via USB.

It was the Unity Remote 5 App. Once I connected it to USB and selected my iPhone device in the Vuforia settings it started working again. I still can’t recreate the wireless functionality. If anyone has any clues I would love to hear them.

I am glad I stumbled on this because it is useful for Vuforia development. The image target lock is not as solid as when the app is loaded on the device but it works well enough.
