Efficiency: Animeted texture vs. Rotating GameObject

I’ll need little rotating 3d square frames on my scene.
I’ll need many of them. Let’s say 10 at the same time.
I can make a square frame by creating 4 cubes at the right size
and fixing them to each other with FixedJoints. After this I
can make it rotate by writing the code in update function.

I think I can also use a simple animeted texture for the same job.
I wonder which would be more efficient?
