Efficiency of PlayerPrefs in Update Method (Top Score)

Is it bad practice or non-efficient to dynamically update “top” score in a game from and to the PlayerPrefs? I’m trying to keep anything in Update methods very minimal to save with speeds.

PlayerPrefs in Update → Positives: If the game crashes or exits for some reason, the score will still be updated
PlayerPrefs only on Events (Death etc): → Positives: Avoids PlayerPrefs constantly being updated every frame (get and set)

I’m just curious if updating PlayerPrefs in Update is bad practice or non-efficient

Thanks

Don’t do it. Updating it only when necessary should be enough.
