Emit from masked skinned mesh renderer

Hi,

First, I would like congratulate the FX Team for the last features. Really cool stuff. Keep up the good work.

I need to emit particles from a SkinnedMeshRenderer but only on certain parts.
I would need to use a alpha mask for that.

Is this possible ?
If not, any plan to add that ?

Thanks

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback!

You can emit from a particular material on the skinned mesh.
There is an option called Mesh Material Index in the Shape Module. If your mesh has more than one material applied to it (i.e. Multi-Sub Material in 3DS Max), then this option will allow particles to only be emitted from the material you specify.

Thanks for the answer.

Yes I saw that, but sometimes you want to emit from a mask (UV) not meshs.

Imagine the sword from LOTR for instance, where you want to emit particles from the writing on the sword.

Cheers

I have the same issue, emit particles from UV mask or at least from masked vertices.

It’s not currently possible but we can add it to our roadmap, thanks
