I was playing The Binding of Issac, when I suddenly had an idea.
I remember playing Super Mario RPG, specifically, remembering the position of the screen and the dynamic ‘3-D’ view. It occurred to me, why not try a game where it’s less on the dungeon scrolling, and more on exploring? Kind of like Fez, where it’s less about the score and more about the scenes and puzzles.
The problem is, the game is intended to have randomly generated levels. This is far beyond my programming skills, as I am just a beginner and thought of this as an experiment project.
Some help (and light on the subject) would be great.
I like the idea, and i would implement random generated “dungoens” in my current project if i could, dont see how it can work as for how the levels are made.
Im in love with exploring games, i prefer doing that in games more often than actually progressing sometimes:P if the world is designed in a way that lets u be rewarded for beeing curious, then power to u.
Hoping i can pull that off, and i’ll watch ur thread incase u come up with soem cool ideas!
Hows about a pool of prefabbed level sections ie straights, bends, ramps and create some sort of script that connects them randomly. A dummy object could be added to each section to use as an alignment point. Im no programmer so excuse me if im barking up the wrong tree.
