Engine torque and drag. ?

Hi folks. Sending one out to all the car game makers, hoping this is simple.

Just for an example I’ve been looking up stats of the Mazda MX5, engine torque, gear ratios, drag coefficient etc. What I can’t find is how ‘free revving’ the engine is, or what is the engine torque drag. Is this somehow implied by the engine/revs torque values? I can’t see that it is.

Also I’m finding it difficult getting data for power at throttle positions or fuel intake, how do I add energy to the engine and allow for how the engine behaves at different revs. Obviously revs will rise faster at the top of the torque curve, but how is that calculated from the fuel intake?

How have you folks allowed for this, or is best to fudge it somehow?

Any ideas welcome.
Thanks.

Or thinking about it a bit more, is the revving of the car a feedback loop of it’s weight and drag?

That I can understand, and I’ll test, but I’m still left without an engine friction value. I guess I’ll just guess this until it sounds right!

But if I’m right or wrong please let me know!

I think in real life this also depends on things like engine temperature and the viscosity of the particular engine oil being used!
