Enlighten, Compositing jobs take enormous time

Starting from 5.0.0p3 “Compositing jobs” takes much more time than before. Before the patch I could bake my simple scene in 2-3 minutes, but now (with 5.0.1) it takes more than 15 minutes to complete.

For example:

From the 5.0.0p3 patch notes:

  • GI: Sped up baked lightmaps compositing.

Same here. I haven’t looked at the numbers (couldn’t find the file actually). But since updating to 5.0.1 it’s taking a ridiculous amount of time. Cache file is larger too.

Would it be possible to get a bug report with the scene affected?

I tried exporting the scene without additional assets and scripts, and it passes the “Compositing jobs” step almost instantly. With the same settings my real project is always stuck for 8-15 minutes each time I bake the light. I am so tired of this BUG, thinking of packing all the stuff for the bug report, but it will be several gb.

Oh, I got it. The “Compositing jobs” step takes 10 minutes only when I select Android as a target platform. When I select “Standalone” the step takes only 3 seconds. Why does platform selection affect the time of the step so much?

Case 686576, I had to attach some models from the asset store, so I made the BUG non-public. (I wasn’t sure if files are accessible to public or not.)

Sounds like Android texture compression is slowing things down.

Probably. I tried testing without “Compressed” option and it looks like the “Compositing jobs” process takes only several seconds. Why compression takes so much time then? My computer can compress 4096 textures in 10-15 seconds, and my lightmaps are only 1 or 2 2048x atlases.
