Environment: Low Poly Sea World [DONE]

Hello everyone, me again!

I have started a new environment pack. This time, hand painted/color style.
Low poly sea environment/waterworld. This pack will be extremely mobile friendly, just like my other hand painted packs, like: Pixel City: Unity Asset Store - The Best Assets for Game Making

Pack will consist of:

  • 7 small fbx files
  • 3 textures, size 1x1k for PC, 256x256 for device
  • 3 materials
  • tons of prefabs for building
  • some master prefabs with already built environment and pieces of it

Things that I am doing right now: setting up scene and building map
Things that I will do: make low poly rocks and pier.
Here are some screens, tell me what You think about it! Cheers! :eyes:

Keep in mind that this is WIP and it will be 100x better at the end! :eyes:

Bump! Update. Working on interesting mini scene inside the level. +some animated stuff and new assets.

Ugh, I love it so much I wanna barf.

I fooled myself into thinking this simplistic style is surely something even I, as a programmer, could pull off. Hours of toiling in Blender produced only a hideous beast of a set that needed to be put out of its misery.

Great style, and nice-looking set!

‘‘needed to be put out of its misery.’’ haha, made my day!
Thanks man, sometimes, the simplest things can turn out to be the hardest to do.

Looks really cool. I’m sure people will love it

Looks nice! I actually think that the sea should be more cartoony and have a more saturated color, as it seems more realistic than the very lowpoly art style for the jetty.

You’re probably right, however, good cartoon water needs to be made by programmer. I don’t know how to write shaders and stuff like that. So I took what I had in stock.

Still, people usually buy pack and add it to there game, so I think, it does not matter, how the water look. As long as it looks presentable and good.

It looks actually quite unique for me for the toon style props and realistic style water together. Quality looks solid already although it’s on WIP. I believe the final outcome should be fantastic. Nice job.

Do you make custom lightmap UV or let Unity generate automatically or actually it’s a real-time directional lighting?

Ya. Sometimes simple stuffs are the hardest to do. I agree.

yeah, I kinda like it too. Good balance. Thanks man, I do not cut corners in my work. In this shark tank, called asset store, you cannot slack off.

I leave real time lights in PC scene and make separate, mobile scene with automatic unity light maps.

Me too. I model and texture them almost pixel perfect sometimes for the best result possible. 2x check and 2x check again to make sure that is no problem at all. It’s very tired and time consume but yeah. It’s Asset Store. You must work hard on it. Just don’t give up and keep it up.

I see. I did custom lightmap UV for all my assets for just in case so that user can choose my custom one or Unity auto generate one to see which one looks the best. Let me share with you some small experiences. We better make custom lightmap UV for pillar shape objects bacause the auto generate UV function will cut a seam line on one of the segment so the object may found seam on it after baking. Try your best.

oh, I did not know that. Thanks! Will try to make light maps

Bump! Small update. Working on lighthouse mini scene. This is what I have done so far. WIP

P.S If someone have any ideas about: what assets could I do for the scene, shoot them out!

Project is growing in size lol
Just finished my lighthouse and started few new assets.
Things that I am planning to do next:

  • animate few assets, so they move around
  • make paths for ships, to add life on the scene
  • setting up scene

This pack will probably hit the store next week, so stay tuned! :sunglasses:

This is a really cool asset, I probably would never have a use for it (just due to the kind of games I make), but its still a nice quality asset with lots of content.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, will do!

maybe some water pumping mechanics? or tech kind of stuff, underwater propellers of windmills, … things that output electricity

Hmm, good idea, perhaps I will make wind generator of some sort! Thanks.

Btw, I like your signature

I got inspiration from @jister and started a new building. It will be three stories tall and with windmill/wind generator elements on it. Feeling pretty exited about it, because it will add good virility and make the level not so flat.
