Estimated 4.3 Release Date?

Hi All,

I have a few 2D game ideas that I’d like to start on, but I’m trying to hold off until 4.3 comes out (for the 2D workflow). I was just wondering if anyone had an estimated release date for 4.3, so I could get an idea of how much longer the wait will (likely) be.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

There is no official release date. The usual statement is: It’s done when it’s done.

This question is asked many times. And for your specific need, you may find this answer useful:

I think estimate is middle of November

What about joining in the 4.3 beta program?

Thanks! I figured as much. Well, it’s not a huge project, I guess I’ll start now!

4.3 beta program is full up.

If I kill a developer and eat their heart can I take their place in the beta?

I always wonder why so much people wants to be in a Beta team. A proper betatesting is lots of work. And i mean lots of work. It`s not that you join the team just to get a free copy of the software

I think this forum full of software developers knows what a beta test involves.

I doubt that you are getting a free copy in the beta group…

With other software it is normal to get a free copy for testing. So who knows

Like knowing how to make a MMO, or knowing that one language is soo much better than another?

A general observation that i made over years at both sides of the fence: Usually a beta team is made of 85% lurkers that were once invited and fell asleep once they got their (free) copy, 10% commenters on other bugs, and 5% real testers who really knows what they do, and really finds the bugs. I doubt that it is any different in the Unity Beta Team. No offence

I was thinking that people would want to be beta testers to start working with the new 2d toolkit and get their games further along, with the bonus that they are helping Unity improve and bug fix their next release.

hmm…

I think 4.3 is on beta 4, how many betas in the past it take before a major release?
Therefore maybe this help with estimate date.

UMA is also being released next week so you can estimate Oct 14 - Nov 1.

I only hope 4.3 version to integrate seamlessly with our existing projects without any compatibility issues…

Version 4.3 integrates with every known piece of technology and will be delivered tomorrow*. With it will come all your hopes and dreams, as well as automagically updating itself to your every possibly conceived feature with its new telepathic prototyping system. This new feature will revolutionize game development, allowing magnitudes faster iteration and testing.

tomorrow = the day after today*

*today = *tomorrow

And people join for different reasons. I joined the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 betas. I did not have enough Unity experience to offer a whole lot from a Unity specific standpoint, but had a considerable amount of experience with RT and Windows Phone so I joined to answer questions and offer assistance from that aspect of the process.

Users who post in the forum should be given first priority to join beta program…I know there lot users luckers from certain countries who create one post and leave and create multiple accounts…

If anything, users who have made commercial works should get priority over people who have just posted on the forums.
