EULA clarification for Open Source and Commercial projects

Hello, regarding the Unity EULA is it possible to:

  1. Create an open source project with demos that include the runtime (but no other Unity technology). Like the zillions of Flash AS3 libraries out there

  2. Create commercial technology/game genre/MMO code addons with demos that include the runtime (but no other Unity technology). Like the zillions of commercial Flash AS3 libraries out there.

  3. There are no special agreements, permissions, or dinking around that need to happen for 1 or 2?

  4. If 2 is possible, where are all the commercial technology addons?

Thanks!

There are a number of developers who sell Unity plugins (iPhone enhancement pack, SpriteManager2, etc) and there are developers provide these free of charge (AngryAnt, etc).

1 and 2 are possible.
There just does not seem enough interest in creating such plugins for a commercial level, aside of those which exist (commercial ones more likely on Unity iPhone aside of GUIX on the desktop, but for the regular unity there are for example Path and Behave which are free as well as the Summer of Code work on the website itself as the detonator framework)
Or put differently, those using the tech to a AA+ funded commercial degree likely will license the source version which means nothing to share from their end.

There was recently a thread on what people would wish to see where a “dedicated 3rd party addon” area on the website was a wish too and it was mentioned that they are working on such things / looking into them.

I think with such an area present, there will be much more interest in creating commercial Addons, be it Pro only plugins or .NET based ones that work in Unity, Unity Pro and the Webplayer

additionally, there was no Unity for Windows Development until March this year, which changed quite a bit on the commercial usage end.

An additional factor is likely that the community shares a lot for free, aside of the fact that you can do a lot of things yourself pretty fast.

I read over the EULA and this seemed possible and setup specifically not to discourage this type of work.

It would be great to see a section devoted to addons, open source and commercial, especially with the influx of the new users to Unity 2.6 (kudos on the release and licensing)

I find this encouraging as Adobe Photoshop, 3DSMAX, and Flash plugins/libraries are just huge and very beneficial to the core tool/technology.
