Everlast: Prince Alec and the Black Dragon

Hello everyone, I just realised that I never got round to putting my game on the forums. It was my final year university major project at Bournemouth University.

I have just returned from the Europrix Top Talent Multimedia Awards 2009 in Graz, Austria. Got down to the last 3 in the Games category. The jury chose 23 projects out of 338 entries from 28 countries, so it was a really great experience going out there amongst some really cool projects.

Welcome to EVERLAST: Prince Alec and the Black Dragon a light-hearted 3D platform action-adventure game. You take the role of Prince Alec, a courageous hero and the game’s main protagonist who valiantly searching to rescue a princess from a dragon. Set in the Kingdom of Everlast, you travel across a variety of different environments, overcoming challenges, obstacles, puzzles and enemies in order to advance. As Prince Alec the user is able to run, crouch, jump, engage in sword fighting combat and solve puzzles. In order to complete the game, Prince Alec travels across 5 different levels across the fictional kingdom, facing a number of different situations and environments. You start off in the game at the Prince’s castle to the west of Everlast. As Prince Alec, you travel through Mayeshire, his local town, through the Deep Woods, across the Great Lake, through the deep, dark caves of Black Dragon’s Mountain to find the princess and battle the dragon.

Hey, I’ve only had chance to checkout the video so far but awesome work mate!
What are your plans post-uni?

Well my background is actually web design based, but this project really ignited an idea of games development. I really like the conceptual side of it all, as I learned a lot about the idea of flow from my studies at uni. Hopefully now will be finding work with maybe an indie games company, or even maybe something bigger! Concept and level design mainly. Ive got a couple of projects planned that I would like to take further. Any recommendations for doing so?!
