everything in unity open up in notepad, i need help

How do i change it so that when i click on the little blue book with the question mark to open the reference manual it will open up the internet browser. I tryed from my desktop making my default programs open up in my internet browser and it didnt do anything. When i opened back up unity and tryed to click on the manual it just keeps opening up notepad and all i see is a bunch of jibberish. I accidently choose notepad not knowing it was an html file.

I know i can just come on here and use the reference manual and stuff but i really prefer to click on the blue book.

I have the same problem. Haven’t found a solution. Probably easy to fix, just can’t figure it out yet. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

Problem solved. After searching the forums a little better, someone mentioned that it was a Windows issue. Windows defaults the opening of .html files to notepad, apparently. After hunting down the place within Windows where these settings are controlled, I was able to reset the default program for opening .html files to Internet Explorer (though any browser should work). No more ‘gibberish’ when I click the little blue book. Wanted to update the post with a solution for future Unity users experiencing the same problem. Thank you to everyone in the commUnity!

Step 1: Create a wordpad or notepad
Step 2: Change it’s extension to .html
Step 3: Select “open with” and choose a browser
Step 4: Tick the “always use” box
Step 5: Enjoy!
