Everytime I open unity it crashes

So basicaly everytime I run unity it crashes I’ve tried most of the fixes but I could’nt do some of the fixes because they were not specific enough. I’ve tried the alt tab click thing, changing the project names etc. I’m currently using version 5.1.2f1 of unity. Please help and be very detailed about it. Here’s a picture of my problem: Screenshot - 3042f40f350ca901922e7c4f55202258 - Gyazo As you see it goes white then says windows is looking for a problem.

You need to be more detailed about your problem, what fixes have you tried? What system are you running?

64 bit operating system windows 8.1. I’ve tried changing the names of the projects, and run unity then hit alt .

Alt is not a way to bring up the project Windows in Unity 5.

Have you tried running Unity as an administrator, updating graphics drivers or opening unity from the command line Unity - Manual: Command-line arguments

Has this happened on previous versions of Unity 5?

And maybe also try a patch release Download Archive

Can you post some further info regarding the crash? Hopefully there’s a crash info file collected by windows:

If you see the built in Windows Error Reporting dialog then there’s a crash dump we can possibly just fetch. It’s located in your C:\Users<your user profile here>\AppData\Local\CrashDumps (this may be a hidden directory, so you need to show hidden items/files accordingly in your Explorer view)

Could you post it to us?

Alex,
I have experienced this same issue, and have posted about it elsewhere, but will add my log fine info here as well since you are looking at this. I am on Windows 8.

@ruj - I see in the editor log you’re instance of Unity is trying to run Lavasoft. This is unfortunately a known issue at the moment that Lavasoft is causing a crash in Unity 64 bit versions for 5.1. Please either remove Lavasoft, or switch to the 32 bit version for now.

Ah, thanks Alex, that helps!

I dont see local under app data

You should have a local folder, what directories can you see in AppData?
Try this as well CyberLink Support Center

If you were previously using unity and the project was working fine, then you crashed? You should always use some sort of version control system to backup your data. GitHub with visual studio works great. If you had Git, you could just revert to a previous commit, or working version of your project.

If you haven’t even gotten unity to open yet? Delete unity and download again, then upgrade to the most recent patch. Stop all antivirus programs until it starts working again.

i cannot find the appilication that i need to copy
