Experiences with Leopard?

Hi everyone,

since Leopard is to to come out in a few days, I was wondering if anyone has tested Unity with the new Mac OS? Is there a chance this will be causing trouble, or does the Mac OS version work smoothly with Unity?

Since I’m currently working hard on cooling down my credit-card, I thought I might first install Leopard and then Unity.

Any insights from anyone?

Kind regards,
Jashan

Unity seems to work with Leopard on some computers, but not all. We’re working on that

d.

Is there a short list of computers on which Unity does work with Leopard? I’ve already ordered my upgrade and I’d hate to install it to then have to reinstall 10.4

Short isn’t the adjective I would hope describes that list.

One question would be: Is it specific computers (i.e. depending on the ā€œinstallationā€, other software installed etc.), or just models… I have a Mac Pro, 2x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 5GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, Boot-ROM-Version: MP11.005C.B08, ATI Radeon X1900 XT graphics board (ROM-Version: 113-A52027-140)… and some USB-stuff attached (but no additional internal cards)… I guess one could that’s pretty much a Mac Pro ā€œstandard modelā€.

Would that be enough information to say ā€œworksā€ or ā€œdoesn’t workā€, or would I have to give it a try? If it should not work, how long could it possibly take until there’s a fix available (I’ll probably get Unity and Leopard some three weeks from now).

Could you say ā€œfirst installing the Leopard update and then Unityā€ is safer than ā€œfirst installing Unity and then Leopardā€, or wouldn’t that matter?

It’s always best to wait for a week or two to install major OS updates. Particularly if you have critical work that needs to get done.
There will be plenty of reports about bugs and difficulties posted by early adopters.
If past performance is any indication, it won’t take the Unity guys long to get any problems sorted out.
