I am sorry but there are a few textures in that effect that will be used in a package that will be put on the asset store… So I don’t know if I can give it away…
In a few weeks there will be a package maybe of some fire and explosion FX on the Asset Store, they will be pretty cheap.

The sparks look a bit rectangular (they’re picking a really low mipmap because the particles are so thin, hurting the alpha effect) you might want to try jiggling their texture settings to see if you can get a better result

When I made the texture I tried to make it a little rectangular, Thats what it looked like in some reference Images.

Still feels a little CG in my option. The smoke at the end feels like steams or tubes instead of organic smoke. The initial explosion looks very nice, and as Sycle said the sparks are too rectangular. They also feel to big and fade out too slow.
I like it, but If you are selling this. I much rather use the Explosion Framework wich is free and much more customizable.

Much better, the larger orange sparks still seem too big and dissipate too suddenly.
Coin-god has a point, the customizable Explosion Framework offers so much to work with and you can easily add your own textures to mix to create your own explosions.
If you want to sell this you need to make it worth people’s money. They need to get something here they can’t get anyplace else.

Yeah the detonator framework kind of screwed anyone else who wanted to sell explosion FX…
The problem is that the FX I made are a little better then the detonator framework but people still want free assets.
To make this effect look much better would be hard I think, unless you used a fluid sim… but those are not for real time yet.

No, the explosions in the explosion framework look fine, and with personal tweaking it can look almost identical to yours and has endless customization. The problem is your trying to compete with something that is free. While yours may “look a little better” it comes with far less.
Do I want a swiss chocolate piece or a free snickers bar? I’ll take the snickers plz. Why? Because I get more and pay less, plus I can add my own personal touches to make it taste better or to my personal liking (freeze it.) Yeah this analogy was a bit off the wall but you get it.
You need to create a set of FX prefabs that aren’t explosion based. If you understand that you’ll have a hard time completing with a free version that offers way more than you do, make different FXs.
I would love to see poison gas or bubbles, electric explosions, plasma, blood spurts, contact effects (I.E. when a sword hits an enemy in armor), falling leaves or flower peddles.
Stay away from explosions we have enough already. Pick almost anything else and you’ll find a serious lack. Make a blood pack, or water splash pack, or dust and terrain foot steps effects pack.
Get creative turn the idea on its head or do something completely different and you’ll have a winner.
In fact make any of those packs I mentioned and I would probably buy them from you just to save myself the time of having to create them myself. But don’t get greedy and charge unholy amounts for one FX prefab.
Looks great. I wouldn’t worry about the detonator framework, as long as your explosion is priced right, people who want that explosion will pay for it.
I’m sorry, but these are ignorant statements.
How did the detonator framework screw anyone? It’s a big framework with too much going on. And for that reason alone I have barely looked at it. If someone made some amazing explosions with only some particles, lights, scripts and sprites then I would be far more interested in those than anything made with the detonator framework.
And people using the detonator framework still need sprites and sounds, all key elements of an explosion.
And your effect, while nice, could use a ton of work.

Probably some of the best explosions in video games ever. And fairly simple technically. These explosions are almost pure artistry.
What I think is most important in an explosion is timing and your timing is off. Your elements move too slow and at different speeds making it feel unrealistic.
@TheLlama: yes I will try to make some other types of FX… I did start a weather and water pack a few days ago…

I have seen those videos before, and I don’t think that its fair to compare with mine… because they are deferent types of explosions
E.G. one is C4 and one is a missile explosion(or something)…
I will edit them some more…

or from another games…
